INFORMATION ON THE CHRISTIAN SERVICE PROGRAM
Welcome back. It is proving to be a great new year for our Christian Service Program. We were recognized on the national level by the Jefferson Awards for Public Service. As this new year begins I ask that you remember to record all your service hours. If you accumulate more than 30 total hours doing something very focused, please consider having someone nominate you for the Jefferson Awards. You will be recognized with a certificate and a pin. We had eight recepients this past year. Please consider the impact your service has had and how you can be recognized for it.
I would also like to introduce you to our Recognition of Service link that discusses two opportunities for students service to be recognized. Please go the Service Awards link on the left to read about these exciting opportunities.
I have updated the limited opportunities link with information relevant to this year's opportunities. Please review this in case you are still in need of service hours.
Also, make sure you complete the Service Pamphlet that you received in May. If you need a replacement; there are pamphlets available for $5.00/booklet from Mrs. Ballintyn. You can bring a check made out to Salesianum School for the replacement booklet. Email me if you need the pamphlet. Remember, the completed original pamphlet is necessary to receive the Passing grade. The link to the left is only for reference. Your service work will receive a failing grade should you fail to complete the original pamphlet as indicated. Without a complete pamphlet, you will have to re-do your service hours.
The 2008-09 Service Pamphlet will be distributed during Religious Studies class at the end of April. The covenant page is due back on May 16th to your Religious Studies teacher. You cannot complete service hours for the coming academic year prior to June 4th of this current year.
Remember it is your personal responsibility to complete this service requirement.
Please note the new link "Short Term Opportunities" lists agencies which are in need of students for only one or two days. Please look at these opportunities and let Mrs. Ballintyn or the agency know as soon as you can if you are interested in helping out. Thank you.
