This is a full-year phase-4 course offered to juniors and seniors. In addition to covering the material in the text, students will write for the school newspaper and yearbook, write for the News Journal Crossroads section and learn to take good photographs.

Students will cover chapters on Yearbook, photography, editing and features in the text. There will be two yearbook deadlines, two newspaper articles, one Crossroads article and one photography assignment.

Students will finish out the year by writing for the 2011 yearbook, studying the new media and in-depth reporting chapters, writing for the final newspapers, and creating their own layouts for their final assessment.

The final yearbook deadlines will be met this quarter. Chapters covered will include editorials, design, ethics and journalism history. There will be two newspaper articles, a Crossroads article, and a photography assignment.

Students will cover four chapters in the textbook: Reporting, Interviewing, Writing News and Using Quotes. They will write 2 newspaper articles, 1 Crossroads article, and begin work on the yearbook.
