PHYSICAL EDUCATION

PHILOSOPHY

     The physical education program is designed to help meet physical and recreational needs of freshmen and sophomore students.  The program focuses on present and future physical and recreational needs of students.

     It is the goal of the physical education department at Salesianum that, through participation, each student will develop knowledge, understanding, and attitudes, which will result in desirable practices necessary to maintain physical, social, emotional, spiritual, and mental health.

All students are expected to be on time and properly dressed.

a.       A school reversible physical education shirt

b.  Gym shorts (no jeans, jams, or cutoffs)

c.  Athletic socks (white)

d.  Athletic shoes

e.  Athletic supporter

2.   When dressed, students will remain in the locker room.  The instructor will lead the

      class to the proper area.

3.  Upon completion of the class, the instructor will escort students back to the locker

     room.  They will shower and remain in the area until the bell rings.  Students are

     reminded to bring a towel.

4.  It is suggested that each student bring a lock.

5.  The school nurse prior to the start of school must record all medical excuses.

EVALUATION

Students will be graded on the “pass” or “fail” system of evaluation.  Daily effort, attitude, participation, and preparedness are the factors determining each student’s grade.

     A student with two or more unexcused days of not being prepared to participate is subject to immediate failure for that marking period.  A student who receives a grade of “M’ for medical reasons faces no danger of failing provided he has a legitimate doctors excuse for not participating.
