May 2007

At the May Planning Committee Meeting the Members began their Post-Visitation responsibilities.

Responsibilities of the VTV Planning Team:
• The Planning Team is responsible for conducting the annual review of the efforts to satisfy Salesianum’s Five Objectives (Academic Achievement, Catholic/Salesian Identity and Mission, College Selection, Student Body Diversity and Academic Excellence (non – MSA goal), and Institutional Advancement and Facilities Renewal (non – MSA goal).
• This Annual Review shall include an examination of the status report for each Implementation Plan, and the contents of the Data Book.
• The Planning Team will issue an Annual Report summarizing the results of this review. The report will include a statement of commendations, as well as a listing of recommendations for future action.

Description of Annual Review Process:

Annual Review of Five Objectives and Action Steps:
Procedure: Based on the review of the action plan status sheets, each group should identify 3-10 commendations and 3-10 recommendations. While consensus is ideal, it will be difficult to achieve in the short time we have together. Re/Commendations should be coded as to whether the represent the unanimous view of the group (everyone is in agreement), a strong majority (3/4 of the group is in agreement) or a simple majority (1/2+ is in agreement). All groups will present these re/commendations to the large group for further comment.

After the Annual Review was completed there wer a few changes made to teh Aciton Steps. The major concern however was Objective 3. Changes were suggested on the actual Objective and voted upon. Stacy Bartkowski will send this request to Middle States for Review (Any changes in actual Objective, not Aciton teps, must be reviewed by Middle States first).

UPDATE: November 2007:

This modfication was accepted by Middle States:

Action Plan for Objective 3 - Measure B

The percentage of students accepted to four-year colleges and universities rated as “most difficult” or better by the Peterson’s Guide will increase by 5 percentage points.

Modified 5/07 to read: “The percentage of students accepted/applying to four-year colleges and universities rated as “most selective” by the Rugg’s Guide will increase by 5 percentage points.”
