Chemistry Classes
Holt Chemistry - 533
An introduction to Chemistry with emphasis on laboratory investigations and the unifying principles of chemistry. Students will discover the answers to questions such as "What is matter?", "How much do I have?" and "How can I change it?". Topics include: solids, liquids, and gases; chemical reactions and calculations; the elements; structure and chemical bonding, thermochemistry and solution chemistry.
AP Chemistry - 535
This course covers all of the fundamental topics of a freshman college chemistry course. Significant emphasis is placed on understanding the principles and mathematics involved with Stoichiometry, Solution Chemistry, Ideal Gas Behavior, Kinetics, Equilibrium, Acid-Base Reactions, Phases of Matter, Thermochemistry, and Electrochemistry. A college level text is used. Students will become problem solvers and independent learners, along with mastering current computer technology for laboratory data processing and tutorial purposes. Participation in the AP test in May is expected.
