English 1 (211/212)
This course provides instruction in the basics of composition and literature. Students will learn to think, write, and speak effectively and to read with a greater competency and enjoyment. Included is the study of literary themes and genres to develop the student’s ability to interpret and appreciate literature. Also the curriculum contains lessons and practice in the fundamentals of reading, composition, grammar, and vocabulary.

The class is currently working on Macbeth. The class will perform the play in class. Each student will practice his part and complete a reading guide. The reading guide consists of quotes, which the student must identify the speaker, interpret, and classifying their importance.
