Important Reminder: Salesianum School will be closed on Monday, September 8th -“F” Day in honor of the installation of Bishop Francis Malooley.

 

Students who are academically ineligible will begin After School Study on Thursday, September 4th in Room B085. Please bring your plan books and arrive promptly at 2:45. Freshmen and transfer students who are enrolled in After School Study will begin on Tuesday, September 9th, following the Activity Fair.

 

Mr. Szczerba and Mrs. Marston are looking for 3 or 4 volunteers from NHS to help out with Back to School Night. If you are interested, please sign-up on the sheet outside Mrs. Marston’s office.

 

Students who are interested in applying for eligibility for test accommodations for students with disabilities for the October 25th SAT should request an application form from Mrs. Gardner as soon as possible.

 

Any member of the National Honor Society who is interested in earning service hours by helping out with Saturday’s dance should see Father Vannicola as soon as possible.

 

First Annual 5K Walk/Run-Mile for Melanoma of DE on September 14th. Visit the website www.miles4melanomade.org  for details, early registration will insure you receive a free T-shirt.

 

Seniors: Colleges will start visiting on September 9th. To Schedule a college visit go to Naviance and click on visit schedule and then click sign-up.

 

Want to earn some extra money? There are four Catholic Youth Ministry Job Opportunities available for students or teachers. Please see Fr. Patrick for details.

 

Auditions for the Fall Show-“The Nerd” will be held September 9th beginning at 3:00 PM in the Auditorium. Call backs will be held on the 10th if needed. Due to a change in policy, auditions are only open to students of Salesianum, Padua, and Ursuline.

 

Please note there are several new opportunities on the Short Term Opportunities link of the Christian Service website for students still in need of service hours. Please check this site frequently as new opportunities will be posted there are well.

 

The Prudential Spirit Award is once again being offered to any student interested in being recognized for their service efforts. If you are interested in the process, please see Mrs. Ballintyn as soon as possible. Once your application is submitted you are eligible to win a cash award of $1000, or a gold medallion, and potentially a trip to Washington if selected. The applications are due by October 31st to Mrs. Ballintyn.

 

Once again, Salesianum School is proud to participate in the Jefferson Awards for Public Service Youth Initiative. If you have done more than 30 hours of service that has impacted your community in a specific way, please contact Mrs. Ballintyn for a Nomination Form. Once the form is returned to Mrs. Ballintyn, you will be considered a Jefferson Awards recipient and your nomination, if selected, will be sent to the News Journal for consideration as a Grass Roots winner. If you win at the local level, you are then eligible for review and selection to be a national recipient. Last year, we had 8 recipients. Please consider this nomination and see Mrs. Ballintyn or one of our student leaders, Robert Liszkiewicz, Dominic Taglione, Christian Bale or Tyler Osborne for more information.

The Oblates of St. Francis deSales are sponsoring a bus trip to New York City, Saturday, December 6, 2008. Departing 9th and Scott Streets, Wilmington, DE at 8:00 AM. Enjoy a day of shopping, sightseeing, a Broadway show or visit Rockefeller Center to catch a glimpse of the tree and skaters. $55.00 per person includes: Transportation, juice, goodies and a few surprises.
