Salesian Spirituality
Salesian spirituality is a way of living the Gospel of Jesus through the example of St. Francis de Sales (1567-1622) and St. Jane de Chantal (1572-1641). This way was first developed through the spiritual relationship of Bishop Francis and the young widow de Chantal. Eventually it gave birth to the Sisters of the Visitation of Holy Mary who in turn passed it onto countless lay men and women. In the 19th century this way also gave birth to the Oblate Sisters of St. Francis de Sales and the Oblates of St. Francis de Sales. In the 20th century the Oblates founded Salesianum School (1903). Today, the spirit of de Sales is spread through the thousands of distinguised gentlemen who were taught at Salesianum and continue to live Jesus as men of devotion, humility and gentleness.
